I practically only watch the Oscar's for the dresses. This year though, the Vanity Fair Oscar Party stole the show. Here are a few of my favorite looks: This is so last minute! Sorry guys!
Sitara xx If they say a picture is a worth a thousand words, music is worth a million.
I decided to branch out a little bit from the normal fashion today to share with you all what is a huge, huge part of my life. When I'm not reading fashion magazines or shopping or of course at school, I play violin, a lot. To be exact, violin takes up almost 1/8 of my day (I practice 3 hours a day) and 13/17 years of my life (I've been playing since I was 4). So in other words, saying music is a part of my life is an understatement.
Often times, the younger generations brush off classical music -- ahem, concert music -- but they really have no idea what they're missing. Concert music stimulates the brain, relieves stress, and is simply amazing. The most important thing though people forget is that concert music is fun! The friendships you build in your orchestra, the goosebumps you get when you know your making magic are the things people not familiar with concert music don't see and the things musicians thrive on, things I thrive on. And let's be real, I don't just listen to concert music. My favorite violinist is David Garrett, a German crossover artist who covers artists from Coldplay to Ed Sheeran to Led Zeppelin to Miley Cyrus. And of course you all know by now I love One Direction and Taylor Swift, but I bet you didn't know I have a slight crush on Drake and absolutely love Fleetwood Mac. The type of music people listen to tells a lot about people so I'll let you all decide what type of a person I am. :) I have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to music. Moving to a new city is always tough in high school and violin single-handedly made it soooo much better. My inspiring violin teacher and dedicated orchestra director have taught me so much in less than two years. I have achieved personal goals I never thought were remotely attainable. I even have this list of 50 things I want to accomplish before I die, number 1 being having a group of friends that will last a lifetime and I can gladly say, I do. All thanks to violin. (wow, writing this made me tear up) Noooow, just so I don't go completely forget about fashion, I've put together a few looks that would be great for performances!
And for those of you living in NYC, come see my high school, Alpharetta High School perform at Carnegie Hall this March!
Hope you enjoyed! Maybe if you're lucky, you'll hear me play one day! Sitara xx PS - I don't normally do this but special shoutout to my friend, Trevor for being my inspiration behind this post (thanks manager) :D PSS - It doesn't hurt when your bass section is hot as hell :)
Hello, it's me. (sorry you guys, I had to do that :) )
Happy New Year! I know this is really late but I have been in my own little holiday world for the past month almost and these couple of weeks have been pretty adjusting back to reality. I always look forward for the new year, new resolutions -- this time I really am going to work out and get fit -- and I know 2016 is going to be a really life changing year. College apps, senior year, and adulthood are all right around the corner and I'm just unbelievably excited. Sometimes, I have this image of myself being an amazing blogger, traveling the world, taking photographs of all the aesthetically pleasing things when life kicks in and I remember I'm just a junior nobody in high school who hasn't started studying for the SATs and is approaching adulthood way too quickly. These past couple of weeks have been painfully hard to get back on track, waking up early, being in school for 7 hours a day, coming home only to be swamped with even more homework. And I know I shouldn't be complaining since I just had almost 3 weeks with no homework whatsoever and it's a 3-day weekend but come on, please give us a break!! Now to the fashion stuff. Here are a few trends I personally think will be huge this year and should definitely keep you on the best-dressed list:
Hope you guys have a great year! I have so many plans for the blog, hopefully this will be the year I can bring it to reality!
xx Sitara xx
I started this year in the heart of Times Square and it's coming to an end in my bedroom in Atlanta and the only thing I ask myself is: Is it really the last day of the year?
So much has happened in the past year that I have been thankful for, lots of traveling, lots of time with family and friends, and lots of progress in my blog. I had the opportunity to start the year in NYC, visit Chicago, Orlando, Tallahassee, Asheville and end the year right at home. I can confidently say that I have adjusted to my move to Atlanta and have a great group of friends that I've done some crazy things with ;) And now my blog. My blog has achieved things I never thought would happen, one of the best being featured on the cosmopolitan.com #DareToBe campaign. I had the amazing opportunity to be an intern at TrendBrew and an apprentice at Atlanta International Fashion Week over the summer and learned from some of the kindest people in the industry. And from here, all I can see is moving forward in the business and establishing a name for myself. Just like last year, I put together some of my most worn shoes, iconic dresses (I wore the one on the right for my last birthday as a child :) ), and just some basic stuff that got me through the year.
Cheers! xx
